In the Spotlight: Sherri Malloy

Introducing Our Spotlight Series!

Over the next few months, we’ll spotlight each member of our team so you’ll see what makes Velawcity rise above the rest.

September Spotlight: Sherri Malloy, Senior Corporate and Litigation Paralegal

Sherri just celebrated her one-year anniversary with Velawcity Legal Support Services this month, and we are lucky to have her! She has over 20 years’ experience working in law firms and corporations as a corporate and litigation paralegal. However, in reality, Sherri is one of those special paralegals who can quickly adapt and master any project! As a litigation paralegal, Sherri has vast experience with document production, pleadings, discovery, e-filing, case law and document organization. As a corporate paralegal, she has substantial experience with entity organization, formations and dissolutions in all 50 states, foreign registrations/withdrawals, transactional assistance and mergers, in addition to significant SEC and blue-sky filing experience. But, Sherri also has considerable experience with insurance and other licensing and franchise issues.

In addition, Sherri was an Adjunct Professor and Guest Speaker for the College of DuPage Paralegal Studies Program in Glen Ellyn, IL from 2007-2012.  She instructed “Law Office Management and Ethics”, which was a required course for the paralegal certification. And, she was a part of the group of instructors that assisted with the ABA accreditation process for the program.

Sherri received her Associates of Arts degree from College of Lake County, Grayslake, IL and her Certificate of Paralegal Studies from Loyola University, Chicago, IL.

She is proficient at MS Office, PACER, Westlaw, Lexis, Slack, Relativity, NetDocs and iManage.

What inspired Sherri to want to be a paralegal?

At 16 years old, Sherri was involved in an accident and her car was totaled due to the fault of the other driver. She made regular visits to my attorneys’ office and worked very closely with the paralegal on her case. The paralegal was very sweet and knowledgeable and, ultimately, helped Sherri obtain funds to purchase a new car. That experience began her fascination with legal work.

Sherri feels incredibly fortunate to have worked with exceptional attorneys and teachers throughout her career.

Personally Speaking…

Sherri was born and raised in Illinois. Eventually, finding those brutal Chicago winters too much to bear, Sherri and her husband decided to uproot and move to North Carolina, and they have no regrets! The move allows them to enjoy the outdoors year-round and explore the breathtaking beauty that is North Carolina. Although you can take the girl out of Illinois, you can’t take Illinois out of the girl. Sherri regularly visits the Windy City to see family, friends and enjoy pizza in the way only the Chicago does it.

Sherri is married and has an 8 year old son, Connor. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, organizing and socializing with friends.

Sherri can be reached at sherri@velawcityinc.com.
